Where to find the Ferry

To get to Garnish Island you can take a ferry from Glengarriff, The Blue Pool Ferry will take you directly from the village to Garnish Island. It is a short 15 minute boat ride, along the way you’ll get a chance to sea the seals and maybe the eagles if your lucky.

The Ferry’s Ticket Office is located in the middle of Glengarriff village,  just across the road from The Glengarriff Park Hotel / Glenaran Irish Market look for the blue ticket booth, you can buy your tickets there and make the 60 second stroll to the ferry.

Garnish Island Ferry Prices

The Blue Pool Ferry is the most affordable ferry company servicing Garnish Island. It is not neccessary to book tickets in advance. You can buy them on arrival to Glengarriff at the blue ticket booth in the middle of the village across the road from The Glenaran Irish Market or The Glengarriff Park Hotel 

 

Adults : €10

Under 12 years old : €5

Under 6 years old : Free

 

These fares are for a return ferry trip to Garnish Island in Glengarriff.

The fares do not include addmission to the gardens, which is payable to the Office of Public Works on the Island.

      • Boats run every 30 minutes.
      • Because of the sheltered conditions of the harbour it is almost unknown for our ferry service to be suspended. However, we do reserve the right to cancel scheduled trips if freak weather conditions should prove dangerous.

About the Blue Pool Ferry

Local boatmen of Glengarriff have been ferrying passengers back and forth to Garnish Island for the best part of 100 years, originally in small row boats, many years on the decendants of the original boatmen still provide this service to visitors from all over the world. They pride themselves on being the most affordable and most accessable ferry servicing the island.

The Blue Pool Ferry is locally owned and ran. It is named after the blue pool park from which it departs, where the Proudly river meets Glengarriff Harbour.

The Blue Pool Ferry’s boats are fully certified by The Department of Transport. They are up to date with the latest safety guidelines.
